WHAT: Frost Bank, The Grand Prairie Family YMCA, City of Grand Prairie, Grand Prairie ISD, and the UNIDOS department of Grand Prairie Police are partnering to host one of the largest back-to-school events.
10,000 backpacks will be gifted to thousands of students, as well as free vaccines, physicals, vision exams and other critical health screenings.
This year, the average Back-to-School families are projected to spend around $875 on supplies, according to the National Retail Federation. The event aims to help alleviate some of the financial burden on parents and guardians.
Backpacks will be distributed by Grand Prairie Police officers to help create positive student interactions. Frost Bank is a title sponsor of the event.
