Please avoid using water north of I20 until further notice

The City remains under a no-use water restriction for residents in the impacted area(PNG, 931KB). Water distribution is ongoing at Lone Star Park, and shower and water fountain access is available at several city facilities.
The City’s aviation director is en route to a testing lab in Corpus Christi with the latest water samples. We hope to receive the results by late this afternoon.
The safety of our residents is our top priority, and we sincerely appreciate your patience as we continue to collaborate with the TCEQ to restore the water supply.

We are working with partner organizations and businesses to boost our supply of bottled water available for pickup at Lone Star Park. We appreciate your patience as we continue to distribute water as quickly as possible to as many residents as we can.

DO NOT DRINK YOUR TAP WATER
Failure to follow this advisory could result in illness.
Due to conditions which have occurred recently in the water system, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has required the City of Grand Prairie to notify its customers not to use tap water for consumption.
- Tap water should not be used for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, or making beverages or ice.
- Tap water should not be used for pets or animals to drink.
- Tap water should not be used for dishwashing.
Limited Uses of Tap Water:
- The tap water may be used for toilet flushing.
The area included in this notice is:
All consumers of water in the shaded area shown on the attached Grand Prairie map.
Explanation of Events:
On Sept 3, 2024, the City of Grand Prairie detected a foaming agent in the water supply north of I20. Crews are currently investigating the issue and working to isolate the affected area. Residents north of I20 in Grand Prairie have been urged to avoid using water other than for flushing until further notice. Bottled water has been distributed at City Hall with another distribution location TBA. Event updates are being made available at www.gptx.org/waterissue
DO NOT TRY AND TREAT THE WATER YOURSELF. Boiling, freezing, filtering, adding chlorine or other disinfectants, or letting water stand will not make the water safe.

NO BEBA SU AGUA DEL GRIFO
El incumplimiento de este aviso podría resultar en una enfermedad.
Debido a las condiciones que han ocurrido recientemente en el sistema de agua, la Comisión de Calidad Ambiental de Texas ha requerido que la Ciudad de Grand Prairie notifique a sus clientes que no usen agua del grifo para el consumo.
- El agua del grifo no debe usarse para beber, cocinar, cepillarse los dientes o hacer bebidas o hielo.
- No se debe usar agua del grifo para que beban las mascotas o los animales.
- No se debe usar agua del grifo para lavar platos.
Uso limitado del agua de la llave:
• El agua de la llave puede usarse para descargar los inodoros.
El área incluida en este aviso es: Todos los consumidores de agua en el área sombreada que se muestra en el mapa adjunto.
Explicación de los eventos: El 3 de septiembre de 2024, la Ciudad de Grand Prairie detectó un agente espumante en el suministro de agua al norte de la I-20.
