When was the last time you had goosebumps? Like real spine tingling goosebumps?It’s probably been a very long time. So plan on getting off the recliner and coming down to the Winspear Opera House on Sunday April 26th, World renowned Italian vocal trio, Il Volo will be setting the night on fire! You don’t want to miss this! The show starts promptly at 8:00 PM so make sure you’re there early enough to park and find your seat.
I had the immense pleasure of getting to know Gianluca Ginoble, Piero Barone and Ignazio Boschetto via a video interview recently. Our lovely conversation started with them asking questions about me, and I think it made me blush a little.
IL VOLO are extraordinarily talented vocalists who began their career as very young men in Italy, competing individually as contestants on an Italian TV talent show. Their phenomenal vocal ability captured the attention of Michele Torpedine, who is responsible for catapulting Andrea Bocelli to fame. Their lives would never be the same!
In our conversation, I realized that it would be so worth it to escape the comfort of home and enjoy an evening at the Winspear Opera House, letting these gentlemen entertain us. Take the opportunity to have a date night and get a little dressed up, as it is a special occasion. Or even better, bring the entire family to share the beauty of the Bel Canto singing style. Let the kids experience something otherworldly, add a little culture to their life adventures. They will never forget it!
During my conversation with these delightful gentlemen, Gianluca reminded me that we won’t be sitting through a long, three or four hour opera, consisting of songs we’ve never heard before or will never hear again. We will be dazzled by the most famous Italian favorites, some of the greatest American standards by maybe Elvis and Queen. Piero reminded me they would be performing their own brilliant compositions as well, such as the powerful Grande Amore.
Piero made it very clear that they feel compelled to bring this beautiful music to the world, especially the younger generations. IL VOLO consider themselves responsible ambassadors of this glorious music. The music itself, and the performances that it brings to their lives, creates spiritual growth for them as artists and as individuals. Performing this music around the world allows them to bring this spiritual, eternal experience to their audiences.
I also asked if there was one particular song that each of them enjoyed performing live, and Ignazio had a funny answer. He said it was like asking a mother or father of twenty children which is their favorite. He loves to perform the songs that make him deeply satisfied and challenge him as an artist.
While I can’t guarantee you’ll have goosebumps, I feel very confident the moment you hear the harmony and alchemy that their voices create, you will be touched in your very soul. Great music and exquisite voices usually have that effect, and that’s where the goosebumps will more than likely come in!
I have to admit, I’m a little late to the party and I am just discovering how intensely beautiful their music really is. In my exploration of their immense 17 year catalog of performance, I found myself so deeply and emotionally moved that I almost wept. Each Voice is so uniquely exquisite, but when they harmonize, and those magnificent voices blend together, it is absolutely spiritual!
Il Volo are international singing sensations, finally back in America! They are only in Dallas for ONE NIGHT!
