Armed robbery suspect shot and killed at Dollar General in Grand Prairie by armed customer

On Thursday, May 5th, at around 9:10 P.M., the Grand Prairie Police Department responded to a robbery in progress at a business in the 1600 block of W. Polo Road. Officers located the robbery suspect inside the business with an apparent gunshot wound. The suspect was transported to a local hospital and later pronounced deceased.

Detectives determined the suspect, who was in the commission of committing an armed robbery of the business and an employee, was confronted by an armed customer who was a concealed handgun license holder. Fearing for his life, and for the life of the employee, the customer intervened and shot the suspect.

The customer is cooperating with Detectives and no charges are expected at this time.

The identity of the suspect will be released by the Tarrant County Medical Examiners Office once next of kin has been notified.

This case remains under investigation.
