At the Farmers’ Market on Saturday, September 14, 2024, Grand Prairie native Vergil Ortiz Jr. during The Grand Fiestas Patrias celebration is presented with a certificate of appreciation from the City of Grand Prairie Mayor Ron Jensen in becoming WBC Interim Super Welter Weight Champion in August defeating Serhii Bohachuck.
Vergil was also presented with an award from Hispanic Heritage Ambassadors DFW “Gloves of Unity Ambassador Award” and a Certificate Of Appreciation Award from The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Of Grand Prairie.
Posted on Vergil Facebook page he said “I had the indescribable honor of being recognized by my hometown city of Grand Prairie. Words can’t describe how grateful I am to be supported and loved by all the wonderful people in it. Thank you, Grand Prairie.”
