If you heard gunfire on Wednesday after midnight you weren’t alone.
Shortly after midnight on December 4th members of the community in Grand Prairie took to social media asking if anyone heard gunshots. The thread in Grand Prairie Texas Talk had over 70 comments with neighbors trying to figure out where they came from.
One user claimed hearing reports that a police chase ended with shots fired. We reached out to Grand Prairie PD and can confirm that an officer-involved shooting did NOT occur.
Here is what we do know.
Grand Prairie Police officers responded to the area of Sun Ridge Apartments on Pioneer after receiving several calls of gunfire in the area. When officers arrived, an SUV was seen with its lights off quickly leaving the area. A short chase ensued when a traffic stop was initiated. The vehicle wrecked out. The person was arrested for evading and possession but was not involved with the original call of gunfire reported in the area. The person said he got nervous when officers arrived which is why the person fled so quickly. No weapon recovered.
No reports of injuries due to the original shots fired call.
