The Grand Prairie Police Department is actively investigating a fatal traffic accident that occurred on Friday, March 24th, in the 1800 block of South Belt Line Road. At approximately 6:40 a.m., a southbound Chevy passenger car veered into oncoming traffic, initially colliding with a Ford pickup truck before continuing southward and crashing head-on into a Dodge pickup.
Both the Ford and Dodge pickup drivers sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The driver of the Chevy passenger car sustained serious injuries and was likewise taken to a hospital. Regrettably, a passenger in the Chevy was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
The identity of the deceased will be released by the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office once the next of kin have been notified. Preliminary investigations suggest that weather conditions may have been a contributing factor in the collision. Additionally, it was noted that the driver and passenger of the Chevy were not wearing seatbelts, which could have exacerbated the severity of their injuries.
The Grand Prairie Police Department remains committed to thoroughly investigating this unfortunate incident.
