Congratulations to Garner Fine Arts Academy teacher Rachel Moss! Mrs. Moss is December’s Grand Prairie News “Teacher of the Month.”
She was nominated by a parent for going above and beyond, who takes care of her students like they are her own children. Here is the email below that we received from a parent. We are editing out names for privacy reasons.
“I would like to nominate Rachel Moss for this award. I’ve known her for about 5 years now. She was my daughter’s kindergarten teacher and moved up with her to the 2nd grade. Mrs. Moss went out on maternity leave when my daughter was in kindergarten. WHILE ON MATERNITY LEAVE, she read a book on Dyslexia (who does that?!) and immediately upon her return to work, she told me that she saw the signs in my daughter, My grandmother, prior to her passing, told me there was something wrong, but could not put her finger on it. She was normal, but she wasn’t. I know that sounds strange, but after my daughter was diagnosed with Dyslexia, we later found out that she had PDD (Pervasive Developmental Disorder). It is a form of Autism. I say all of this to say that it was Mrs. Moss that started all of this. She paid attention and noticed things in my child that I didn’t know to look for. It was with her help that I have been able to get my daughter the help that she needs in school. Mrs. Moss was patient with her and worked with her and never made her feel inadequate in ANY WAY. To this day, my daughter will tell anyone, even her current teachers, that Mrs. Moss is her favorite teacher. She is mine as well!! Thank you!”
We want to give a special thanks to our sponsors for providing the gifts for our teacher of the month.
