I am proud to announce that the Grand Prairie News has endorsed Patty Harris for school board of the Grand Prairie ISD Place 7 At-Large. As a longtime educator, Patty is uniquely positioned to understand the challenges facing our students and staff today and how to effectively address them. She is passionate about improving early childhood education and increasing STEM programming for students, as well as addressing social factors such as poverty that impact learning outcomes.
Patty has also shown herself to be an effective and collaborative leader, working with teachers and administrators at all levels to champion the best interests of students. Her strong record of service, combined with her genuine commitment to public education with over 20 years as an educator, makes her an ideal candidate for this important role. I have no doubt that she will continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our children, and I encourage you to vote for Patty Harris during early voting or election day. Together, we can help ensure that every child in Grand Prairie has access to a high-quality education.
Our teachers are among the most important workers in our society. They have a tremendous impact on the lives of young people, guiding and nurturing them as they grow and develop. In order to do their jobs effectively, our teachers need access to a variety of resources. They need adequate salaries and benefits so that they can support themselves and their families. They need well-equipped classrooms, with modern technology and materials that enable them to engage students actively in learning. And they need the respect of the general public, which reflects the high value that our society places on education and its role in developing future generations. Together, these qualities make up what it means to be an excellent teacher: one who works tirelessly to support students, helping them unlock their full potential through knowledge and wisdom. As such, we must never take our teachers for granted, but instead, recognize their critical role as leaders in building a stronger future for us all.
