Grand Prairie, TX:  When LifeLine Shelter board member Sara Dedeluk reached out to IKEA Grand Prairie seeking a donation of bunk beds for a family with two small children, it blossomed into much more. Her note read, “LifeLine has just placed a family with two young boys in an apartment. They have lived in a motel on and off for the past two years and are moving in today with only their clothes and personal belongings. One of the most important things families need during this transition are beds, particularly for the children. Can you help?”

IKEA believes the most important piece of furniture for children is the bed- so it was a very fitting request. “Sleep is vital to children’s health and development. They’re constantly on the move, learning new things, experimenting and playing. It’s important to help provide them a safe place where they can rest and sleep while they process all the impressions from an active day” said Patrick Conway, IKEA Grand Prairie Store Manager. “Once we read Sara’s note and recognized that we could impact this fresh start for families in our community in a bigger way, we jumped at the chance. We combed through our inventory and pulled fifty-bed frames, mattresses, comforters, mattress covers and included one hundred pillows to make sure they had everything they needed to outfit each bed.”

“We are so very grateful to our Grand Prairie IKEA,” said LifeLine founder Angela Giessner. “Their incredible generosity and continued partnership with Lifeline for Families in Grand Prairie is a vital demonstration of their commitment to our community and the people we serve.”
