Tragedy Strikes as Shooting Claims Life of 17-Year-Old in Grand Prairie

GRAND PRAIRIE, TX – In a devastating incident that unfolded on Saturday evening, a shooting in the 4400 block of Lake Ridge Parkway has left a young life tragically cut short. At approximately 5:30 P.M., the Grand Prairie Police Department received a distress call and promptly responded to the scene.

Upon arrival, officers were met with a chilling crime scene, where it became apparent that a shooting had taken place. The victim, identified as 17-year-old Erick Munoz, had already been rushed to a nearby hospital by his friends before the authorities could reach the scene. Sadly, despite their efforts, Munoz was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival at the medical facility.

With the investigation underway, witness statements provided crucial leads to the detectives. Their diligent work resulted in the identification of the alleged suspect as 18-year-old Anthony Moran. According to witnesses, the incident occurred as a result of a disturbance between Moran and Munoz, which took a grave turn when Moran resorted to firing a weapon.

In a joint operation that spanned multiple law enforcement agencies, the Grand Prairie Police Officers assigned to the United States Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force, in collaboration with the Arlington Police Department, succeeded in apprehending Moran without any untoward incident on Sunday, June 11th.

As the case progresses, Moran now finds himself behind bars, confined to the Grand Prairie Detention Center, where he awaits his day in court. The court has set his bond at a staggering $1,000,000, reflecting the gravity of the charges he faces.

With the investigation still ongoing, the Grand Prairie Police Department has not divulged further details concerning the motive or any additional circumstances surrounding the tragic shooting.
