Grand Prairie – On Sunday, November 1, 2020, at around 1:50 a.m., Grand Prairie Police responded to a shooting in the 2300 block of West Jefferson St. When officers arrived, they located victim Jose Mares Romero, 38, of Grand Prairie, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Officers rendered first aid and he was transported to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
Officers arrested William Smith, 55, of Fort Worth near the scene of the offense and he is currently charged with murder. The case is still under investigation.
