1-alarm apartment fire sparks Grand Prairie arson investigation, no injuries reported


At approximately 10:56 a.m. today, January 12th, 2022, the Grand Prairie Fire
Department responded to a 1-alarm structure fire in the 2600 block of Hawco Drive.
Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy fire in the attic of the building and assisted
with the evacuation of the residents. A total of 16 apartment units were directly affected
by fire, smoke, or water. No civilian/firefighter injuries were reported.

Families in the affected building were relocated to other units within the same property.
American Red Cross and the Grand Prairie Office of Emergency Management were on
scene to assist the families.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by Grand Prairie Fire Arson.
